The Challenge

As the fourth largest school district in the United States, Miami-Dade County Schools offer a robust selection of school choice programs to their students. With this selection, however, comes the challenges of enrolling this large student population into these programs, and doing so in an equitable and accessible manner.

  • Integrated student data from the existing student information system to pre-fill enrollment applications and save time for both administrators and parents.

  • Created a “Single Sign On” for parents and administrators to reduce the number of username and passwords for pre-existing users and add further accessibility to the process.

  • Developed customized parent tutorial videos as well as a series of user manuals in both English and Spanish so administrators could reach more families.

  2. Manage student data and processes, including enrollment applications and lottery systems, through the use of one integrated system.
  3. Customize and modify the processes as needed and provide adequate support to parents and families.
  4. Utilize real-time data to keep families updated throughout the process and guide enrollment decisions for programs now and in the future.
