Core values—every organization has them, but what do they really stand for? SchoolMint’s Core Values are not just a space-filler on the website or something leadership came up with to feel good about themselves, but instead something that speaks to the root of who we are. They’re honest and relatable, to tell our employees and the world who we are and, more importantly, who we are not. Our core values are intentional and serve as the foundation of the company’s culture and how we relate to others at work.

#1. No Jerks, Period.

With kindness being our core, we chose to treat each other and our school partners with mutual respect. Sure, there will be times that you disagree, but if you listen and assume positive intent, it can reach a productive, peaceful resolution. We tend to follow “The Golden Rule” model that our parents taught us in childhood. After all, it’s cool to be kind.

#2. We, Not Me.

As John Maxwell once said, “Teamwork makes the dream work, but a vision becomes a nightmare when the leader has a big dream and a bad team.” At SchoolMint, we believe collaboration, communication, and celebration are essential from our leaders, to our subordinates, and vice versa. It takes a cohesive effort to win, and we don’t intend to lose!

#3. Be Heroic.

We want our employees to put on their metaphorical capes when they come to work each day. SchoolMint is the thought leader in providing educational solutions to schools and districts. With this, we make it a habit to go above and beyond for our customers.

#4. Bring Your Whole Self to Work.

They say that variety is the spice of life. At SchoolMint, we’re just one big pot of diversity gumbo. Everyone’s personal opinions, views, and input is valued and welcomed here. Our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee have a mission that invites employees to come as they are to work every day.

#5. Embrace and Drive Change.

The only constant in life is change, as alluded to by Heraclitus. Our goal is to be brave Change Agents in this industry, delight our customers with superior service, and push the envelope of evolution in the K-12 education space. Innovative thinking should be encouraged because if you don’t get with it, you get left behind.

When you work in the tech space, especially EdTech, it’s more than just a job. You have to love it to live it. That’s why having solid core values that guide our hiring processes, customer and co-worker relations, diversity and open-mindedness, and all-around company culture is so valuable.
