Connecting students with their optimal educational program through an integrated online system.

The Challenge

The School District of Palm Beach County is the tenth largest school district in the nation and serves over 180,000 students in a variety of local choice school options, including theme-based, gifted, and specialty programs. Managing all of these applications and the lottery process was challenging for the district, and proved to be demanding on both staff time and the district’s finances.

The Results:

  • Integrated the district’s existing student information system, allowing students to be easily re-enrolled without having to fill out the same information multiple times.

  • Customized the system with district boundaries to identify school and program eligibility for new students based on their address, significantly reducing errors in placements.

  • Improved efficiency and made it easier for parents to apply to multiple selections through the streamlined application process.

  • Automated the district’s lottery utilizing exact policy criteria to ensure all placements and opportunities are fair and secure.

The Solution

  1. Identify online enrollment systems that have the capacity to meet the specific needs of the district’s programs and processes.
  2. Integrate existing student data and manage student information in one system to streamline the enrollment process for staff and parents.
  3. Automate processes and modify to meet the criteria necessary.
  4. Make data-based enrollment decisions quickly and efficiently with real-time student information instantly available.
